Ayakha Soga

Ayakha Soga passed Chris Hani Arts & Culture High School, where he developed his passion for African instruments and ensemble performance. He is a multi instrumentalist, percussionist, and performer, specializing in African ensemble music, including uhadi, marimba, nyunga nyunga mbira, and drums. He has performed extensively with ensembles such as the SACM African Music Ensemble and in Baxter Lunchtime Concerts, showcasing traditional and contemporary African music. In 2025, he was part of an ensemble that won the FMR Percussion Competition, demonstrating exceptional skill and creativity. Under the guidance of renowned mentors Dizu Plaatjies, Dr. Bronwen Clacherty, and Keketso Bolofo, Ayakha has honed his skills in ensemble leadership, arrangement.
